SOMETHING NEW ON THE HORIZON
We’ve been brainstorming fresh retreat offerings for 2026, and one idea we’re especially excited about is a hiking-based weekend retreat. Emoyeni – “Place of the Spirit” – sits on the quiet northern slopes of the Magaliesberg, overlooking farm valleys and surrounded by bushveld, woodland paths and big open skies. We’re fortunate to have beautiful walking routes on the property itself, the freedom to move through neighbouring farms and proximity to local favourites such as Emerald Pools, Castle Gorge and Dome Pools.

We’re currently mapping the routes and exploring how to weave gentle, mindful elements into the hikes – simple ways to settle, notice and tune in while moving through the landscape.

We had hoped to pilot this in January, but with the likelihood of heavy summer storms, we’ve decided to wait for more reliable weather. Consider this a little teaser – something we’re working on, something we’re excited about and something we look forward to sharing with you when the timing is right.

If you have ideas or suggestions you’d like us to consider, we’d love to hear from you.

END THE YEAR WITH SILENCE AND REFLECTION

Taking time away from daily demands to reflect on the past year and to set intentions for the future, provides a potent space for growth.  Make a commitment  to breaking habit patterns, focusing on the practice of silence and reflection, and start the new year with presence and purpose.

MEDITATION, AWARENESS AND EMBODIMENT PRACTICES

Weekend ~ December  12 – 16 (4 days)

How do we tie ourselves in knots? Much of the Buddha’s teaching is about accessing more aware, spacious and kind ways of being. That awareness allows us to see more clearly the process through which we turn moment-by-moment experience into the views and habits that can either limit or expand our freedom and loveliness.

In this retreat we will uncover greater ease and kindness through meditation and playful awareness and embodiment practices. Dropping into rest and regulation is like being in the still eye of the storm. From here it is easier to make out how we habitually perceive and create our worlds from the raw material of sensation.

NEW YEAR RETREAT

TAKING TIME TO REFLECT

     MERVYN CROFT

Weekend ~ December  29 – Jan 3 (5 days)

The New Year is a powerful symbol of impermanence, of the cycles in nature and in our own lives. It is a time to reflect on the past, to open to the present and to question what it is that we are doing with our lives?

This 5-day meditation retreat will mostly be in silence, giving us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of impermanence and explore how it is inherent in every aspect of our lives – our health, our work, our relationships.

Each day will include walks in the veld and the mountain, opportunity to reflect on these questions and, in the evenings time to explore these questions with others.
